Hi everyone

I was just reading this article

https://www.news.com.au/finance/mon...28593702cea3

discussing 2 cent Australian coins minted in 1968 and also those that miss SD initials at the bottom. It is not clear to me whether there are 2 separate features/omissions (i.e. the 1968 date and the missing SD initials) or whether one needs both.

I have a pile of 2 cent coins which I have had for decades so I decided to have a look at them.

I found the following coin.

Help-With-1968-2-Cent-Coin-Australia

Is this valuable and if so, what would it be worth?

Thanks Peter

I saw that article too and had a good chuckle over it.

True, your coin is a 1968 2c which is the second lowest mintage Australian 2c but I am sorry to tell you in that condition it is far from valuable.

Maybe you could sell it for $2 or so unless this article has created a stir and people with no idea about the true value of coins are suddenly willing to pay ridiculous prices (which of course is the intention of this article).

Thanks

On closer inspection I think it does in fact have the sd initials although my photo above doesn't show it very well.

Oh well...

If it didn't have the sd I would still keep even in bad condition but I can see the sd on it so with it being in that condition it's worth 2cents
