A nice article summarizing information about the Franklin half dollar. A worthy read.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Hondo thanks for the article very interesting read learned a few things. And oddly enough I am going to an auction this weekend and there are several complete sets up for sale which I was looking at as a strong possibility of a buy depending on price and condition of course. Thanks again timing was very good with the article

Putting a nice MS set of Franklins together right now would be a great idea. Especially when silver prices start to take off.

Nearly 900,000 Franklin halves have been certified by NGC and PCGS combined. Almost all of these coins are in uncirculated condition and CoinWeek estimates that at least another million uncertified uncirculated Franklin half dollars are held in coin collections throughout the country.
I'm thinking it's a lot higher than that, considering I have half a dozen of them myself. Nearly all dates in MS63-64 have a value under $100, so there's really no benefit to TPG grading. Good article.
