Admittedly, I have very little experience with errors and varieties in the Flying Eagle cent series. With that said, I recently acquired a lot of about 30 Flying Eagle cents. This particular 1857 caught my eye because of the die clashing, and upon looking it up, it seemed to have the same die markers as the FS-403. Could you all let me know if I'm correct in my assessment? Additionally, what sort of value should I expect from this coin? Thanks!

Now the bigger question is what is it worth?

https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...fs-403/37376My still-learning guess at the grade would be 15-20. It doesn't look cleaned or damaged, so the coin would probably grade straight. The PCGS price guide in that grade range is $1000, but the population is so thin that number might not mean much. Other folks with considerably more experience will give better insights. That is one heck of a find, congratulations!

Wow, that Great Collections auction had 39 bids and a closing price of $2850. The coin sold does not look as nice as this one, either.

This is a very nice example. There are no known Mint State examples.
I will call this one a VF35 and the value will be close to $5K in my opinion. Wonderful example.

Rick Snow has multiple for sale right now, both in VF20, and both listed for $4000. Yours is way better. Monster find!

Gosh, that could be the best "accidental purchase" I've ever seen on here.

I'm rather curious how much the 30 coin lot cost. Probably not $4000-5000.

Thank you for your insights! I am super stoked to have found this variety. The lot of 30 coins only cost me about $200, so to have this type of a find is incredible. I'll probably try to get the coin graded by PCGS. From there, what do you think my best option is to maximize the amount that I can sell the coin for? I have an ebay store that I already sell coins on. Would it likely sell better at a major auction house though? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
