*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

A while back ago I posted pics of an Indiana State (black) c coin, I had 2 of them and a Bronze looking coin. I was told to spend them and that they were just dirty coins. Well, I got rid of them thinking they were of no significance. Come to find out, they were cameos and shined three times over to get the special effects to stand out. Now I'm wondering about the Bronze one I spent? Any input on this info being true? I'm so bummed out!

Based on these pictures, I would give you that same advice today. Surface staining or toning, especially on clad coins, doesn't affect the value. I'm not sure who is giving you different input, but I would be wary of them.

Weigh them, bronze would weigh different than a clad coin.

You could buy nice uncirculated ones and age/stain/plate/polish them to your heart's content and be happy again.

Wherever you got that info, I wouldn't go back to. Shining coins destroys any premium that they might have.

Odd. I replied to this thread yesterday with a lengthy post on the difference between circulation cameo and deep cameo (PF), including a PCGS article. I wonder if I was typing while the post got moved, and my reply just got sucked into the Internet black hole. Oh well.

TL;DR: those coins are spenders.
