Ouch! Question... How are you storing your silver?

@ coin guy 56 Is this happening to many/most of your silver coins? Is it occurring on the obverse of the coin as well?

This group of coins where put away, just as them came in 1993...the same packaging. They where keep in strong box until 2000...About 2000 I saw those spots on then move them to 2x2 cardboard holders.

Moisture build up? Was the strong box in a basement? Did it have some desiccant? Or a dehumidifier?

Just that group, on both sides of coin.

If its just a select group, it could be the coins were touched or wet or something else. If they were stored like in the back of the strong box (safe) it could be that area gets condensation.
Too many variables to say exactly. Are you storing guns in the safe? If could be the ammo is outgassing.
You need to give more details.

Let me try it again...bluish spots on silver coins, purchased from Littleton coin around 1993. where keep in original cellophane sleeve, (original packaging), until I saw the spots on them around 2000. I then put coins in cardboard coin holders with the spots on them: this was the only time there where touched. No other coins have any problems. Spots on both sides of coins. Where keep in strong box with other coins in cardboard holders. Thanks coin guy 56.

Hopefully toning and not carbon spots, but in the picture it is difficult to say.

Could be a reaction to whatever Littleton had them in. I would dip them in acetone and see if it comes off. If it doesn't these are basically bullion coins and worth the silver value.

I store my ASE in a holder and in a box. I recommend you do the same.

I was thinking carbon spots - it is possible that the Littleton packages have tiny punctures in them letting in air?

Could be carbon spots, as Dearborn said.
Errers and Varietys.
