Looks like a % of the clad layer is missing...on reverse of this 2008 -Arizona quarter. And obverse side is dark.  *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

We need a weight please, until then it's a cupholder coin, aka environmental damage.

Nominal weight of a US quarter is 5.67 g, so it does not seem that your coin is missing anything.

Environmental issues. For fun, suggest soaking the coin in 100% acetone. If there is any filmy 'crud' on the coin, the acetone might remove or reduce it.
