Hi - Would any forum members have any thoughts?

The sword suggests Gwalior or similar but the large underlying palm frond is unusual

It was in a group of Princely states coins - but the more Iook at it the more I think it's one of those anonymous Paisa's from either Kabul or Qandahar during the reign of Dost Muhammad. It's clearly overstruck which was common for that area and time - and the partial date fits as well.

I agree with Afghan rather than Indian.
Didn't find anything similar in Valentine.

Thanks - That's a good observation. There are some examples on Zeno that are suggestive but nothing that is really close. I think the fact it's over stamped and that was so common a practice in the Afghan area makes me lean in that direction. It's clearly had an interesting life.

Just to update that this apparently a paisa from Bahawalpur. The round paisa is less common than the square falus that is normally found. It's certainly the first one I have seen.
