2023 Uncirculated Mint Sets Arriving! Things To Look For.

It signals winter is here and I usually have time to start opening up the mint rolls I have collected over the year and research cool errors and varieties that have been found. Anyone have any insights on what to look for in mint sets and rolls from the 2023 circulating coin releases? Here are a couple I have on my list to look for: P Edith Kanaka'ole - Major Clashed Die P Lincoln - Extra 'V' Variety (to the right of VDB) Anyone else have anything of interest that has surfaced this year? * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

gorham_collector Valued Member United States 426 Posts	Posted 12/10/2023 9:27 pm You most likely will not find the extra v, or that edith die clash on the 2023 special uncirculated mint set. If done like in 2022 they'll use special dies and planchets again. And be struck vertically rather than the horizontal press used for normal circulated coins. Highly unlikely to find these errors/varieties. Not to say one couldn't find an error or variety but not these ones. Report this Post to the Staff

I am a die hard business strike collector. The satin sets from the early 2000's really made it difficult to find good BS coins. Are these considered SMS coins in the US mint uncirculated sets? "The coins are struck on specially prepared planchets on presses with the dies oriented to strike vertically, unlike the circulating production, which is executed on presses with the dies oriented to strike horizontally." I'm not sure if they consider SMS or not. I think they consider ofc an uncirculated mint set. Just with some different things done during the minting to make it more special idky.
