Literally just finished this ground find conservation the other day and had looked at the MM multiple times trying to match to an RPM. Just could not come to a conclusion with the amount of wear on coin.

Then saw lawest's post on the 1948-S and thought the similarities are a strong indicator of yes, rpm. I thought Wexler's WRPM-009 given the chip center mm but cannot seem to match up markers given the wear.

What say you gurus?

Looks like Machine Doubling or a hit, on the mint mark.

Not seeing it. Truth, I don't see Wex 009 as a RPM either.

I have to agree with you on that. As all other markers on this are questionable the only real thing to go on was the MM and that die chip in the 09 listing (if that is what it is) matches perfectly up with mine.

Thx all, much appreciated.

Looks like there is some light MD underneath the lower serif on yours. You have to remember that this was the mm punch that was horribly overused too(46 through 52)(74 through 79), there is a lot of "junk" floating around, both inside and around the perimeter of this mm. Below is a pic of WRPM-009 and where the actual RPM is, arrow pointing at the split in the tail of the southern serif.
