Yes @gigi, that bubbling that you see on both sides is due to exposure to high heat. We sometimes call these "campfire coins". Keep it if you want, but it is only worth face value.

Yes, heat damage, along with some environmental staining.

Most things bubble when heat is applied, coins do the same.
