So in the lot of the 1500 plus wheat pennies I obtained, this was the only 1911 in there, sadly no 1909's but a 1910 which I will post soon. I think this one is pretty darn nice condition wise? But so far everything I've been posting only had luck with one maybe two coins lol. What would this grade at ? Is it worth getting it graded? Thanks all.

I'm not a grader. In almost all common date wheats you would need a MS-63 or better coin to come out ahead. This one , my grade is a fine, worth $1.50

I think I'd give it a F15 but do not send in for grading

You can try ebay sold listings, but take my word, it's just worth a dollar or two. That's it.

PCGS has online photos to help you grade just about every US coin:

Nice coin. Unfortunately has what appears to be somewhat fresh dings on the reverse--right wheat stalk and rim.

Just search for NGC or PCGS and click on price guide. They both also have a table of auction results from the big auction places but you won't find much for common coins in low grades.

Nice coin, but definitely not worth getting it graded, by a TPG.

Douggystyle,
As a general rule a coin needs a retail value of at least $100 to justfy all costs involved in sending it in.
For grading:https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/
For values check ebay sold values and here:http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm

you have a better chance of hitting the lottery than to find a coin in circulation that has a value that would warrant grading fee's. just keep searching to fill in the empty holes

it doesn't make sense unless a coin is worth $150 or more. most seasoned collectors don't even slab their coins due to the cost. you could expect to spend a minimum of $18 (economy grading) plus shipping/insurance per coin each way plus a subscription to a grading service. For instance PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. As you can see it really is not worth grading any average coin

I appreciate all the help and advice and tips I am learning here. I obtained 1500+ of these wheat back pennies along with some other coins that were out of a collection from a friend. I admit I google any year coin I have and it just gives a huge range of prices and where the coins are listed for sale, ie: ebay, mercari, Etsy and so on. I've seen coins I have here listed on those sites from 1.00- 10,000 dollars lol, and I understand common sense and realistic values are somewhere in between those figures. That's why I joined this awesome forum to gain the knowledge and real truth on coins and values. I am gaining a ton of knowledge each day listing and looking at all the topics on coins here and I appreciate all you guys help. I will learn and see what is worth a lot and what's not, this is an amazing hobby and I am enjoying it very much. Thank you all again!!
