Testing my developing skills...or lack thereof. Does this dime show double die on the obverse? I'm looking specifically at the lettering ONE DIME. It's a 2016 D,

If anything, it's just Machine Doubling.

ONE DIME is on the reverse. From the images posted, I'm thinking a minor Die Deterioration issue. Lighting used in the photography may (may...) be introducing a pseudo doubling appearance.

Thanks sickpuppy. I thought double die was just one kind of error. Is Machine Doubling totally different? It will take me a while to absorb all the info sent on Machine Doubling. (Thanks for that BTW.) My lack of knowledge is obviously way worse than I imagined. Will keep plodding along and will try not to get discouraged.

No, Machine Doubling is just when the die bounces when it strikes the planchet and the planchet shifts a tiny bit. It's not the kind that makes coins worth a lot of money. But it's also possible Die Deterioration Doubling. Either way, your coin is worth no more than face value.

There is more than 1 Machine Doubling. Keep at it, read and search as much as you can, you'll get it.

Gigi2 click on " Machine Doubling" link above and study it well. It's the most common mistake made in coin collecting
as in so many think it is an actual Doubled Die. Good Luck!
