Hi All,

This 1919 Buffalo isn't so great but I noticed something on the reverse that I don't understand and would like your thoughts on what it is.

Thanks for taking the time!

What is the tree/triangle thing next to the E? Regular surface damage?

Hmm seems like just an area where that surface discoloration/accretion is missing. Is the triangle raised at all compared to the other surface of the coin?

I suppose it could be a clash of the portrait's neck. It's in about the right spot for it.

I couldn't tell my looking at it so I used a magnifier, lightly ran a toothpick over the mark and best I can tell, it isn't raised. I deduce this because I moved the toothpick towards the E and when it hit the E I felt it move up slightly.
