1987 Shadow Mint Mark "D"

Perhaps my eyes are seeing something that isn't there. Without magnification, it is nearly impossible to see, but under magnification, it appears there is a "D" mint mark shadow on this coin. I have not seen one like this before. Is this an error, and if so, what type is it? Thanks!

I do see the Die Deterioration at the top extending into the lettering of "IN GOD WE TRUST"

It could be a lot of things that make it appear to be an underlying "D" but at the end of the day it is just Pareidolia.

I have never seen the mint mark in that location before. That said, most likely an illusion.
