I really like the packaging and the speed it arrived. I'd purchase coins and auto parts (an Austin Healy project) and except for one instance, I was "ok" with the shipping time. But this just blew me away how fast it shipped.
One question. The 1oz coin is "a coin". Does the RM follow the same edict as the USM that a coin is a reeded edge and a medal is smooth? I know the USM has these restrictive laws that force them to make many medals where a coin would be a better choice. So maybe the RM doesn't need to contend with any of this, so it may be a bit of an unknown.

Sure is a tiny thing, 8mm, .80 gram, 50p, I wonder if it's the smallest government issue legal tender gold in a while? Here is reverse of its assay card. Am I reading it right, limited to only 1,786?

Wow that's tiny! And I thought the 1/10th oz $5 US commemoratives were small! How much did that set you back?
edit: I looked it up... £99.50 or about $126 US.
Multiplied by 40 and that's about $5040 / oz.
I know we don't buy these as investments and yeah, I know the smaller the coin the worse the "value" in terms of cost/oz vs. spot but ouch.

I was hesitant on getting this one with such a high premium, almost 3 times what the Britts are charging for their version, but......that nagging voice in my head that says "just buy it!" won out. So it will be coming home soon.

I just received an email from the US Mint stating the order window for this medal closes at 3pm tomorrow. I'm kind of surprised about this, usually they don't have ordering windows for such products, they just sell until it's all sold out. I wasn't going to buy one but every time I look at the design, I like it more. I think I'll have to pull the trigger, darn it.

You better act fast! I got my order in when the window opened. I think the window is so they can mint to order. No need to risk not having a sellout I suppose.

Hey at least it's 1 troy ounce... get another 1/10th of an ounce in there for your $95. Quote:At least it gets you one step closer to free shipping! I've cut way back on US Mint purchases in the past couple of years, I just get the annual sets and ASEs on subscription, which is always free shipping. This will be (assuming I pull the trigger in the next hour) my only non-subscription purchase for 2024.
