Hi all,
I have posted this to another forum as well.
I have 2 mohur coins that I'm having difficulty with the dates.

The first one is 17x7 but I can't figure out the third numeral.

The second one is 17XX. I think the 4th numeral is 2 but again, the 3rd numeral has me stumped. Maybe a 9?

Many thanks

Albert - I think you are correct with 1792 but not sure about the 1727. Have tried googling to find the same coin for that date but no dice.

Might be 1729 if not 1727.
Bound to be one or the other, I bet it's 9

This might be helpful, shows the most popular number forms on Nepalese coinage for the last few centuries.

X on the first coin looks like a malla 5 or maybe a shah 9

XX on the second coin looks like shah 82

Finally managed to find an image of a 1727 coin.
The 2 is sure fire 2 and nothing like the numeral on my coin. Could it be another numeral or an error? Will try and find some coins with other dates for comparison.

Steve, am thinking it may be a misconfigured 5 or 9. Again, I can't find examples of coins for those dates. Arghhh..

From what I can see on the net, I think you are correct with the 1792 coin.

The other one, I'm still not sure. :(
The third digit looks almost like an Assam 9.
