hey everyone I have a couple of dimes that are strangely red one of them is a 1974 and the other is a 1989D
I would appreciate any explanation for this. it's been bugging me for days now

Your dimes have environmental damage. They have quite possibly been buried in soil for a few years and then dug up by someone using a metal detector. Cupro-nickel coins often go this red-brown color when buried underground, or if they spend a long time in water (such as a wishing well). After a period in circulation they will start to regain their normal color.

Coins will have a variety of colors according to exposed environment, if you put some together they may appeal to you as long as your aware which ones will have no extra value.

Just a normal looking dime that's seen some use. I'm not even 50 years old, and I've seen hundreds of these in my life.
