I don't have much exonumia, but this easily my favorite piece. I found it in my grandmother's basement when we were moving her, almost 25 years ago.

It's a fancy engraved mechanical pencil. The top reads "The Emaus National Bank". The side is what's sweet: 25th anniversary 1904-1929. I can imagine their enthusiasm in 1929. It's the bank's 25th anniversary, things are going swimmingly, stock market booming, and they've got a posh little giveaway for customers. It's kind of like an oyster fork from the financial Titanic.

I did some research, and apparently ENB survived the crash of 1929. During the crash of 2006-2008, I actually kept this on my desk at work as a reminder that history unlearned will repeat itself.

Wonderful, wonderful bit of history from a bygone era! Treasure it as long as you can and pass it down to someone in your Family that will appreciate it like you have. Very nice!

Thanks, guys. =)

For any future Internet searchers, the pencil is a Redipoint. I suppose I should determine the metal (probably nickel or nickel-plated steel?). It has a cool little fob loop to connect to your watch chain or chatelaine. My Google-fu turned up no other examples, except a distant relative: https://www.ebay.com/itm/155831493451

I did, however, learn that the Emaus National Bank did print money, which I didn't know:

And a postcard of the bank. A dry postcard to send your pal. Still looks almost the same today:

Def a fascinating piece. Looks to me like the fob end might unscrew from the pencil body. Does that reveal a storage compartment for spare lead?

Correct. There was a spare lead inside, although that might have been improvised storage. The pencil does still work. You can advance the lead by twisting the fob clockwise.
