So the color on this one had me VERY excited but I think I got duped. Found it at the bottom of a bucket.

Looks like the real deal but it is MAGNETIC.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you

Most likely (100%) just a copper plated steel cent.

2 grams

@Marve65 - are copper plated steel common for this coin? Trying to understand if I have anything worth keeping here

Thanks

I'd definitely keep it as a novelty item - but NEVER try selling it as the real deal. Yes - all kinds of plated and even copper reproductions/fakes floating around everywhere.
When you weighed it did you use a 2 place digital scale (0.00) as a steel cent should ideally weigh 2.70 grams.

I would have been super excited, too. Looks like the real deal! But, the magnetism. Oh the pain, the pain!

Definitely a plated steel cent. If it were mine, I would destroy it.

I'd keep it as a fun curiosity--clearly noted on a 2x2 that it is a doctored piece.

It is definitely worth spending some extra time on cents like this..there is always a chance they
could be the real deal. A chance though very, very slight.
