Hello,

I'm just getting into coin collecting. I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I have this 1957 D penny and noticed that there is what looks like almost two small circles or "drops" in the date - one in the circle of the 9 and the other within the 5.

I tried to take as good of a photo of it through the loop.

I'm just curious what this could be a result of - something interfering with the die?

Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks so much.

Small die chips in the date, fairly common occurrence.

A bit much glare with the single photo, but you're likely dealing with die chips.

to the CCF and die chips. The 50s wheat cents were loaded with them. They are just a result of an aging die.

Is it just me or does the D look like it is an RPM? It looks notched in the upper left corner.
