Marks in left obverse field detract, I'll say MS-64.

MS65 FS steps are chiseled but Montecillo is lacking some detail.

Not seeing the hit on the reverse. I don't like the verdigris on the obverse and for sure don't like the hit left and below the ear lobe. Overall, a nice-looking coin.Is there a back story?Where did you get it?What did it cost you? etc. John1

This is a well struck nickel. I'm at MS64FS. Pleasing example.

a tad too much glare. I think its altering the surface a little. I'm seeing some disturbances obv left field and right field. minor marks shoulder and lapel. the marks above CENTS look like die polish lines as they are not crossing the devices. there is no doubt this 5FS

Nice looking coin with strong full steps but not very valuable. I think PCGS values a 64FS at $16 and a 65FS at $26. Its not until you get to MS-67 that the value is considerable. Great coin for an unc set of Jeffersons or for a type set.

That is a real beauty. I have looked at a lot of 1941 and 1942 nickels lately, and that is some of the best step definition that I have seen. As others have pointed out, full steps in 1941 does not carry the premium of later years. The Reverse of 1940 was still fresh and crisply defined in 1941. I am wondering if the soft definition on Monticello is just a later die state. The lettering is quite sharp. There is a chance that a TPG might get picky about that ding on the reverse rim between 11 and 12 o'clock.
