Is it worth checking for Errors/Varieties on these coins?
I just purchased a roll that will be arriving today, and was just curious if it even matters if an error/Variety is found on these coins?

Thank in advance.

"on Bullion ASE rounds?"
Dearborn... I guess they are considered the Uncirculated ASE. But I see several here call them bullion coins. I apologize for the confusion on the correct terminology.
Still learning on the ASE's

Yeah - the "Bullion" coins that are never priced at bullion cost.
Now that you mention it - I've never seen anybody selling an error ASE.

If there is no mint mark on the ASE reverse side, then it is a bullion coin (or 'round' if you will), if it has a 'W' mm on the REVERSE (don't confuse the designers initials on the obverse for the mm) then it would be an uncirculated coin.

If it is truly a bullion coin then they only sell for SPOT prices plus usually $10.00 (so the seller can make money on it..)

Here are just a couple of the recent ones, but generally I would say its not worth buying to look for errors like you might with some others, but if you happened to be buying them as bullion or for collecting its actually not a bad idea to check them if you happened to have time and better if you made a list of what errors exist on coins to look for. Thats where books like the strike it rich with pocket change 5th edition might help someone getting started for example in general. A lot of errors are out there but people have no idea what to look for. On the other hand some collectors might prefer the non error coin so also depends on your personal desire to collect or maybe sell to others.

I just bought them for bullion, but I also like to take a close look at my coins for errors/Varieties.
Gives me something to do, and I enjoy it.
I mainly stick to Lincolns for the most part, but am taking a break from those and have been working on silvers. Mostly Morgan's.
Also toying around with ASE's (non Bullion). But figured if I do those, I might as well start with the high end ones first. 1995 W.
Still pondering it.
Morgans are fun because I enjoy the Variety hunt, it's the reason I started this whole coin venture.
Thank you Datadragon, I will take a look at those links.

Heres one more link with a collection of American Eagle errors with photos https://minterrornews.com/features-...-errors.html

I guess they are out there and few are looking, but its not going to be common to find these. I agree its interesting to look if you already happen to be getting them for other reasons.

That's the way I looked at it. I had a pretty good collection going, but was becoming despondent over the the 1995W. I finally decided that I needed to "crap or get off the pot" and get a 1995W, so I did trade and got rid of some silver and gold in order to get the 10th anniversary set, the whole thing

Well that 1995-W set is a 'must have' set for serious ASE collectors.

That's what I'm pondering. Is it the set thats worth buying, or just the ASE?
I haven't looked at the mint numbers for the gold coins vs previous years

Personal preference and what you can afford/want to spend.
Generally the gold in the set is generally a little over spot, and the ASE will run about what a proof 69 will cost. So it's not a terrible investment. I don't see the price of the set coming down really.
If you're planning a graded ASE collection, your could consider just going with a graded 95W. I have the set, as does Dearborn. The set just has a certain panache. Very limited.

Not that it really matters, but I did do a quick look (not thorough) at these coins under the scope. There is a die crack on all 20 coins down the middle of the Eagles beak.
Again nothing major, just a common crack.
