Holy moly, look at this thing. $4300, that is really low for this gold type w/out some horrible obvious problem. Yes it is "plugged" but I don't see any plug. I also don't see any PCGS holder or Cert #, so can't see the TrueView or anything .. And yes it appears to be in Germany, anyone heard of this MA-Shops, are they real? Anyway whattya think guys, I need this type for my set and they so rarely come around, and this just looks like the best deal I have seen. change my mind! https://www.ma-shops.com/ritter/item.php?id=70155

Tim, MA-Shops is one of the advertisers that support the CCF - look at the top of the page. I've bought coins from several dealers associated with that site possibly even that seller. If you're considering purchasing that beauty, contact Münzhandlung Ritter GmbH and ask for more pictures and the certification #. MA-Shops sellers are usually very prompt in answering, although keep in mind the time difference. And I doubt they would say PCGS if it wasn't slabbed.

I get so locked into the 'big 4' (ebay, GC, SB, HA) that I forget anything else exists. I'm not even sure how I found this one. Anyway, I sent a message thru MA-Shops site asking for Cert # and pics of the slab, will keep posted if it goes anywhere.

@tim, I have bought multiple times from Ritter and have been happy with my purchase every time. Two notes though: shipping from Europe can be disappointingly lengthy and all of my purchases from them were medieval/ancient coins.

If you flip the coin over, the location you suggest makes perfect sense. the same location on the obverse would place the plug (previous hole) centered above the bust, where one would drill to make a charm/necklace out of it. Beautiful job of plugging!

MA Shops is a platform for or an aggregator of auctions and listings (Proxibid, Hibid, V coins, SIxbid, etc.) - on those sites, you will ALWAYS want to click through to view both the site's policies, terms, and conditions PLUS those of the actual seller. There are sometimes unpleasant surprises about shipping in there. Limits on what a "bid" really means, etc.

Ritter is a very reputable dealer, but you're going to take a bit of a hit on the shipping to get it into the US with that high of a declared value. You don't have to pay import duty on it, at least.
Personally, I would not trust gold to be shipped internationally unless it's insured for full value and shipped via UPS/FedEx/DHL due to a sharp rise over the past few years in package thefts for numismatic shipments.

Thank you folks, they wrote back overnight, very polite & professional, it has a good Cert # and looks equally good on PCGS as in these pics, maybe better. Still can't find that plug for sure, it must be the best plug ever. Problem is, I'm finding this - Quote: Items from Certain Countries

Numismatic items including gold and silver are classified as duty-free under the United States HTS in most cases (see below)
Section 21, chapter 97 (heading 9705.31.00) - objects of numismatic interest (The only exception listed in 9903.88 of the HTS is for items of this type from China upon which a duty tariff of 7.5% will be imposed)
I believe the only other restrictions are bans against imports from Sudan, Syria, Cuba, North Korea and Iran.

Is the coin a "Product of Germany" or a "Product of the United States." I think there's a good argument for the latter. The seller is German, the product is from the U.S. of A.
