VF35 details. I don't think the cleaning will give it a pass

I'll evaluate when it arrives. Thinking about TPG depending on inspection in hand.

I see you bought it from Rick Snow. That's a good sign. He has an eagle eye!

Coin arrived today. Several of you are aware that I got this from Rick Snow at Eagle Eye Rare Coins. Coin was perhaps a little nicer than the pictures, although my pictures turned out a little blue for some reason. Pretty solid VF35, which is what Rick graded it. Might squeeze EF40 on a good day, but the weak strike on the shield probably holds it back. If it was cleaned, it was a long, long time ago. I notice that Rick identifies cleaned coins as such on his web site - this coin was not identified that way. I'm satisfied with the coin at the price I paid. Just a stunning cobweb die break on the reverse. Thoughts?

theres no doubt the coin was cleaned. it was quite a while back so the question would be would they give it a pass or not. I'm going to say VF35 probably gets a pass

It's VF+ and would probably straight grade because a lot of patina remains.

Maybe. I just had this one come back from PCGS as "AU Details - Cleaned." I might send the dime to NGC for grading.

Reverse of that FEC would probably details it at NGC too.
