So, I found this brilliant red 1959D penny with a couple small black marks on front and flipped it over to find more. This ruins any kind of grading is that correct? Pictures don't give the coloring justice, I just can't seem to get lighting just right. Thanks for feedback!

Yes, unfortunately it's environmental damage at this point. Depending on the substance/reaction, pure acetone might help, but it appears the copper alloy is probably already damaged.

Not worth even putting in a 2 by 2, just a spender.

I'll say AU details, environmental damage. Just a spender unfortunately.

Oh.......it's horrible - even though it jumps out at you for having some "Newness" to it - It's just worth a cent. Those carbon spots destroy it plus the mint luster is almost gone............Although is that a die crack through the letters ST into the lincoln Memorial on the reverse? Probably won't add any value but still cool to hold onto.

Actually the luster is there my camera just doesn't pick it up. And thank you all that's what I figured, such a shame.

No biggie, these are plentiful in mint state red. You'll easily find another.
