Ok ya all I finally have one I think you will all appreciate. Should it be one that gets graded or just hope for the best on ebay. Is there a price range for what these go for?

Classic BIE, but--in my opinion--nothing about the coin would make it a good candidate for third party grading. Suggest checking ebay sold/completed items information for '55 S BIE wheat cents--actual sold information, not asking price. If you try selling this on ebay, you're likely to get somewhere between 75 cents to three or four dollars.

That is good advice from ijn1944 and I agree with it. To get it graded it would cost 30 to 50 dollars.

Yeah, I was just thinking about BIEs the other day (for semi-obvious reasons) and how I haven't come across one in the wild for quite some time. Regardless of value, that's a nice one.

You can find the 1955-s to identify which one you have here. You may have to click on the red image links sometimes when they arent showing on the page. https://cuds-on-coins.com/ldb4-1955s-2/ Usually these don't require grading since you can identify without the grade (such as normally using anacs just for identifying at a lower cost than ngc or pcgs for lower value coins) and is not typically valuable enough for the grading fees. The good news is that it can be sold ungraded if that is what you are after vs keeping in your personal collection which many here like to collect.

A "BIE" is a die break "chip" between the letters of LIBERTY on a Lincoln Cent. Most are becoming familiar with the 'BIE' variety to look for, but actually it depends on the location of the die break in the word liberty on the cent obverse as not all are found just between the B and E of liberty so PLENTY out there to look for.

Here is a reference list for you and others to help identify them and to see if one exists already.

Classic BIE. Nice find! Especially in a 1955 S. Only 44.6 million minted.

There isn't a BIE that would warrant grading. And I collect them.
