to the CCF! I can't think of anything in the striking process that could cause this. I think we're looking at Post Strike Damage PMD and not a mint error.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

To CCF! Your coin is just showing PMD. There's no errors, just damage.

to the CCF, RClemons! It looks like your Lincoln Cent is covered with glue. Try soaking it in 100% acetone for a couple of hours to see if it comes off.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I'm thinking the coin was slathered in glue-like gunk. A long acetone soak should remove or reduce the crud..

just a ton of gunk piled up and hardened on the coin.

@RClemons Try a long soak in acetone, should help clean up the coin.

First of all I would like to apologize to anyone that I have disrespected or offended. I did not realize that we were not allowed to offer up coins for sale at this time. I also did not realize that the back of the coin could scratch off until after I posted it. I feel real silly about that. I am interested in old coins and their value. This has become a new hobby of mine.So I am still learning all of the rules and the various types of coins and grading and everything thing else. Thanks everyone for the insight and advice.

I do not think you offended anyone here. In fact, I thank you for sharing your coin, it is interesting however, the experts here will give their opinion on it and you can do whatever you want with it but hopefully they answered your questions. What I personally hate to see, is some e-bay sells sell junk and rip people off which in turn makes this hobby difficult to assume legit. By all means not to insinuate this coin would end up on e-bay. I just wish everyone would come here to find out about their coins as you did. Thank you again, bring us some more.

No offense sent from you and none perceived by us. I'm glad you came here to ask about this coin, and please bring on more if you have them.
