Some will say because of "penny for your thoughts" or "penny earned is a penny saved" and like sayings that it makes it American, I think those sayings originated from England. I believe we just got used to saying penny instead of cent. I could be wrong but no one has shown me accurate documentation proving otherwise. Report this Post to the Staff
