Did you check Variety Vista, Wexler or Coppercoin sites yet? It looks like it has an RPM.

It's die chipping that has been smoothed over. I had this explained to me several years ago, was common on large and small dates.

Here are more pics I already had uploaded on this site. More chipping.

Not seeing a DDO. You might have a minor RPM though.

Quote: Just to clarify: Your cent is a Large Date variety. The OP's example is a small date, as stated. Marve65 if you are referring to my examples, yes, they are large dates. The die chipping I described was present on both small and large dates though.

Agree the first coin is clearly a small date. Overall, I don't see a whole lot going on here.

I guess I was referring to the the zero in the date as much as anything. There is layering on the inside and outside and the numbers and letters of liberty are thicker than usual. It's from an original roll and most of the coins have full memorial steps making me think it's a newer die. My first thought was MD. I know other members have seen these . It's the reason I posted

Here you go, gros. One of the many changes from small to large date was to try and eliminate the "chipping" issue they were having on the date, but as you can see on both your and my example, it did not work. They thought by changing the size and thinning the date on the large date, it would help but it did not. What you are seeing, as I have already stated, is due to chipping.
