Curious about a 1954 Cinco Centavo that I believe might be struck on a brass 1955 Diez Centavo planchet. It weighs 5.52 grams which is a whole gram off what it should be for that year/planchet. But that matches the '55 diez centavo planchet weight and also its diameter matches the '55 as well. It also seems a lot more yellow gold then reddish brown to me. I added the ebay listing and another listed picture to compare and show the color difference. As well as the design being partly off the coin due to it being stamped on a smaller planchet.

How would 1955 planchets get minted in 1954?

Clearly they new before 1955 they where going to be changing planchettes . What are the odds they had som on hand in 1954. I'm not saying that's what this is but I do see the possibilities.

Colour is not a reliable indicator of composition for these alloys.

Many different ways it could happen. Almost all websites define a transitional planchet error as a coin that is minted with a design for an earlier or later year planchet so it's possible. My guess would be during the switch of planchets and dies, a 1955 planchet made its way through while the 54 dies were were still in. How most transitional planchet errors occur.
