I have this 1955D with what looks like Die Deterioration. What do you think? Ignore the pointer.

I believe that this is called Strike Doubling, notice the flat surfaces on the lower portions of the numerals? ...although it might be Die Deterioration. I have a 1960 Nickle which was classified as such, and the numerals and legends had the shelf-like appearance all around them, not just on one side (mine could be a later stage of deterioration, whilst your could be an earlier stage). Still a nice conversation piece .

success,

Hmm...look at the separation on the 9. MD? don't think so!
How about a shot of Lincoln's eye? I bet you'll have something there.
Also, check out 1955D-1DO-001--look familiar?

You are so right DVCollector. It is a 1955D-1DO-001. Not paying close enough attention.
Thank you, Thank you

Congrats! Can't hurt to eliminate other causes too.
When I saw the relief on the doubling of the 1 and the separation on the 9, I knew you had something...
