Hello coins community,
I'm a researcher trying to get more information about the content of a small hoard of 7 dinars from a 9th century hoard of dinars from Tel Yavne, Israel.
The authors of the excavation report (
https://www.jstor.org/stable/27131807) say:
Quote:
Near the opening to kiln L14200, a juglet was found. It contained a hoard of seven Abbasid coins, all gold dinars: four dinars from the early Abbasid period (762-806 CE), two dinars from the North African Aghlabid dynasty (in modern-day Tunis; 814-837 CE), and a single worn dinar of the caliph Al Mutawakkil (847-861 CE).
There are some photos from news media. There best photo I've found of the coins is this one:

https://www.medievalists.net/wp-con...5%D7%9D.jpegI'd be very grateful for more precise datings, and identification of mints. I imagine that the Aghlabid dinars were struck at Ifriqiya or al-Abbasiya. Based on reported minting frequencies, I'd guess that the early Abbasid dinars were struck at Damascus or Baghdad, and the late one in either Egypt or Baghdad. But these are just guesses-- I cannot read the inscriptions.
I've been trying to find the contact information of the authors/excavators, but to no avail :(
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
