I have this medal (even two). Without indicating the manufacturer or author. Most likely made by casting.
I would be glad to receive any information about the manufacturer and possible author.

Once the firm had a whole city block. Now forgotten, presumably because of technological obsolescence.

I might have found some tangential genealogical info about the recipient of this medal (J.B. Ward):

Quote:
WILLIAM LEONARD CAIN.
William Leonard (Cain, 44, of 35 War-
ren street, 8S. E., died Thursday morning
at an Atlanta hospital. Last services will
be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the
chapel of Awtry & Lowndes, with Dr. W.
H. Major and the Rev. E. M. Altman offi-
ciating, Interment will be in Crest Lawn
cemetery. His father, J. a three
brothers, J. H., T. E. and T. 0. Cain, and
a sister, Mrs. J. B. Ward, survive.

For a possible search by the name of the recipient (J.B. Ward), I would like to inform you that there is another medal. Author Rene Chambellen.

And one more... It is known that Duncan and his wife Adelaide contributed large sums to the YMCA and Chicago Boys Clubs. Duncan's philanthropy for West Side boys had begun when he located his office and plant in the neighborhood, and noticed that the children had only streets and alley for playgrounds. By 1932, the Duncans had given more than $500,000 to the West Side YMCA, and henceforth it was known as the Duncan YMCA.
I wrote there at one time, but they don't even know about the existence of the Duncan medal. It's strange.

I remember using an old Addressograph machine in the early 1970's when I worked for Jess Peters Inc. Every address was individually framed and fed through the machine like a slide projector. If everything was not perfect the machine would jam. When it worked it was a slow noisy process. It was a happy day when we replaced that old clunker. Almost forgot to mention that Addressograph eventually was bought up by IBM.
