I saw this on ebay. I have no interest in bidding on it. Something seems off about it. I'm always trying to educate myself. I'm wondering what others think.

Dipping has the opposite effect, it kills shine or luster while cleaning.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

They took a nice EF coin and polished the heck out of it.

That's just sad to see.

Why would anyone take a nice-looking coin and polish it like this? I guess someone didn't understand that shiny isn't always a good thing on old coins! Don't clean and never polish a possibly valuable coin!

I have a Barber quarter around here somewhere that got the same treatment, and it looks like it was a nice high-grade coin before they destroyed it. I need to find it and take a couple of pictures.

ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Run! This is a ruined coin that has been devalued by polishing or cleaning. So sad.

I especially dislike polishing, myself. I wish I put the auction in my Watchlist just to see what it sells for. There was an opening bid of $25 + Shipping.

Some mental defective ruined this coin.
