Check this out, is this a different kind of error? Jefferson's cheeks seem to have more wrinkles than normal. I did a comparison of my nickel next to images of this coin, and this is unique. The wrinkles are raised like extra die. I hope my photos do justice.

Let me know what you think.

Just seeing scrapes on the face, a stain, and circulation wear and flattening. PMD.

It could be, except the wrinkles are raised, I can feel them with my fingertip. I agree about the flattening, and stains, but the wrinkles are different.

Haven't seen this before, but it damage of some sort. the metal was moved from the center towards the rim, like plate tectonics creating hills and mountains - the metal piled up.

Photos are very good. I think that this is mechanical damage, and while you do feel those ridges, they are raised in only comparison to troughs where metal has been removed from the surface.

Never saw anything like it before and can't describe it - maybe heat from a blow torch wrinkled the metal?

No heat, just damage from scrapes.
