I've never really seen Die Deterioration look quite like that. The 7th image going down shows the crack pretty well. It appears to begin at the corner of the Memorial, which as we know is a common spot for die cracks, and it seems this one took a right turn instead of a left. I checked Cuds on Coins and couldn't find anything like it. I will say, I thought the first one I found (which is the last image) was some sort of doubling.

I've never seen a die crack that looks like this but I don't have a better explanation.

Well, I never thought I would mis-identify a simple die crack, but here I am. My apologies to the CCF, and I appreciate all those who pointed out my faux pas. Assuming this is Die Deterioration, how do I change the title of my post.

Several years ago, I started noticing something very similar to your reverse. I was finding it on 70 and 71, P,D and S. The best I and others could come up with was that is was some sort of deterioration doubling, as E&V has stated. Below is a pic of a 71P with a similar abnormality and also a link that shows coins with similarities. LINK https://www.error-ref.com/abrasion-doubling/

donnie59, had to post this for you to show how common they are. That's why I quite keeping them, a fairly common anamoly in the early 70's cents for some reason. Just found this bank roll searching.

Thanks -makecents-, I've been doing some research on abrasive doubling and deterioration, and it's been educational. A lot of worthless doubling I've seen over the years has been explained, regarding the cause and effect. While it was mildly embarrassing to post a misidentification, I was able to gain knowledge because of it.
