Looks like you got a fair deal even with the $9 S&H charge.

Yup, I think so too.

Murty, please be aware that my comments were not directed at you per se, but more at the masses. This is only my opinion. While I do agree that if the coin showed up and was falling out of a regular envelope and was just not in good shape I would complain. If it came in a bubble mailer as stated and the shipping price itself was $4, I don't think the $9 is anything to complain about. Again, it's part of the price of the sale total when buying, not an added fee later. I think you did well on this regardless.

I believe this guy ripped you off in the postage and handling. I would be tempted to leave negative but probably wouldn't since he stated price in auction. I would definately hit his stars with a very low 1. These are the ebay rules that apply to shipping and handling. I believe he abused them!
Quote:
Shipping and handling charges may include:

Actual Shipping cost: This is the actual cost paid to the carrier (i.e. postage) for shipping the item.

Handling Fee: Actual packaging material costs may be charged. A handling fee in addition to actual shipping cost may be charged if it is not excessive.

Insurance: Sellers may offer buyers insurance and extra services provided through the carrier at actual cost. These services include, but are not limited to: Certificate of Mailing, Certified Mail, Collect on Delivery, Delivery Confirmation, Insured Mail, Registered Mail, Restricted Delivery, Return Receipt, Signature Confirmation and Special Handling

Charges not allowed in Shipping & Handling:
Fees related to Shipping & Handling: Gasoline, mileage, time spent at a carrier, time spent packaging the item, ebay and PayPal fees may not be added.

after selling on ebay for 9 years, it has become cheap to just sell to other fellow dealer! unless you sell raw coins! even if you sell a pcgs pr69dcam gold eagle you will lose money after the fees and other cost. try it! thats why most put $20 shipping just to try to get spot price. thanks j

Seems odd to complain about what was upfront and there for all to see.Im with the "dont like it,dont bid crowd 100%".
I dont blame sellers for hiling up the shipping a little , it only shortens the bidding , people arent stupid.
A matter of $10 with free shipping or $8 with $2 shipping , if you watch enough auctions I'm sure it all evens out in the end.

Its laughable those who would see ebay fail and go under yet condemn a seller for helping do just that.
From what I know is ebays fees are a percentage of the selling price , not the shipping , the shipping doesn't come into it.

Id much rather pay 99c and $5 shipping knowing the seller got the money and ebay didnt.
With a $5 purchase and free shipping which ebay encourage obviously its ebay getting the lions share of the money..bugger that.

Sellers need to wake up and smell the coffee , buyers too
