I recently sold an 1891-CC Morgan on ebay to help fund some other coin purchases. It was PCGS AU-55 (GTG Thread http://goccf.com/t/434887 ). When I saw the buyer was Auction Kings, I was very close to canceling the order, but I ended up giving them the benefit of the doubt here. This morning I had a gut feeling to go check auction kings recent ebay listings, and sure enough there is the AU-55 (at best) coin, cracked out, and advertised as uncirculated and semi-proof like! Here are photos. There are a few key marks that show this is the same coin. Auction Kings PCGS The deceptiveness of this seller infuriates me. I am sure they dipped the coin, ruining it, before they took these horribly edited photos. I really wish I had went with my gut and canceled this order and found another buyer. ebay Listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/395420265228Edited by ericgreen 05/22/2024 09:33 am

Yes, definitely the same coin. What a shame, ruining a nice coin with such a deceptive practice. And hard to see how they can maintain a huge business with such deceitful photography.

That seller is known here on CCF for altered pics, prior posts examples, shame. I'll never buy from them. It may not help but you could email ebay with pics comparison and say they have deceptive photos.

If this was in a PCGS Secure Plus holder and somebody buys it and sends it in for grading, they are going to find out exactly what this was graded in the past, uncovering the deception on the part of the seller. Likely too late unfortunately.

I've been looking at a lot of DMPLs lately. Real 1891-CC DMPLs are scarce and expensive. It's sad how AK has created an artificial cameo and mirror field on a shiny coin. There is no visible frost on Liberty or the eagle, but the illusion is created by toning them blue. The buyer will find out soon enough.

Auction Kings is worse than counterfeiters as AK defaces real coins and then lies to uniformed buyers about the super duper totally UNC one of a kind garbage coins they sell.

ebay is like a polluted creek. Almost impossible to filter out the toxins to get clean water. Really a bummer for honest legitimate sellers, the rare few that are still on the site.

I have found a few good sellers out there that I 'try' to stay with when shopping..

Not sure why anyone buys coins based off these over-processed photos. Crazy. It's definitely a seller problem, but also an uneducated buyer problem.

AK has a lot of claimed PL and DMPL Morgan listings. AK's photos all show a white field and a blue bust. But that's not how PCGS DMPL and PL coins show in photographs. Frosty white bust and dark field. Some listings are probably doctored, but no one doctors them to have blue busts on white fields. What are AK's coin doctors smoking? Why would anyone buy a DMPL that doesn't look like a DMPL?

When you sell something , you no longer have any monetary interest in the item , so why do you care what the buyer does with it ? Sort of the same as selling your house and you don't like the renos and new paint colour the buyer did . You got paid , best advice move on . BTW the firm mentioned is a good one to not buy from . Definitely juiced , jacked photos.
