This one was just in a bag I was going through. Interesting lamination error but it is a bit confusing how the date went missing. During the strike, no matter how you think about it the date gets struck. If things fold over and whatnot afterwards then yes, details can get covered, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I thought maybe it was a tapered planchet and didn't have the metal there for a full strike but it weighs 3.10g. Unusual.

Nice Lamination! Also got severe Die Deterioration to boot, on the obverse.

Nice. Could grease be a factor by the date?

Rim at 3:30 seems to show the LAM running all the way thru but who knows.

I agree with DOCC that the date was Struck Through Grease.

Well it is for certain a defective planchet - could it be that when the material was rolled out that there was a 'divot' where the date should be?

Neat looking, maybe label it "Gruesome Greasy Lam"

Thanks all for the great comments and suggestions! With DOCC's suggestion of the date being Struck Through Grease, and Mike's concurrence, I think that is the answer to the missing date. I have a couple more where I am not entirely sure what is going on and will try to post them today or tonight.
