Hi. Was wondering if this could be considered a dropped letter? "S" is definitely lower than the rest, or perhaps the shadows are playing tricks on my eyes?

Agree--not a dropped letter in the numismatic sense.

@ijn1944 must be an error in English translation then. Seems you call "dropped letter" just some form of strike through. What do you call misaligned letter(s) in a word then? But that's besides the point, just semantics. My question was if you can see level difference or I imagine things &

To me, I see that letters do line up. Take paper or a ruler and line up the letters without including the shadows. Maybe just an illusion?

the term 'Dropped Letter' has an entirely different meaning when it cones to numismatics. I'm sure you meant 'misaligned'. But anyway, that is not actually possible as these are computer engraved now But if it were a misaligned letter then ALL coins would have it and that would make it normal and common.
However, I'm not seeing any misalignment here. Maybe just a trick of the light and shadow.

Thanks, that's why I wanted second opinion. I also thought it's unrealistic. By the way, that rinsing solution they use at the mint that leaves dark spots like water makes - are they affecting coin grading? I mean, it's sort of "production mess" but they do look unsightly.

From what I've read about the rinsing solution spots on coins,
it does seem to affect the grade on these newer shield cents.
Coins without any rinsing solution spots can achieve higher grades.
That's what I have read anywho.
