Saw this today... A pure novelty, I know, but I'm curious how this was done. It appears to be two genuine Peace dollars ... Is the area I outlined is the obverse of one fused to the semi- hollowed out reverse of another
... Diameter was right and it weighs exactly 26.73.

I bought some 90% from the seller and only looked at the Peace dollar long enough to take these photos.

@roma, normally the Magician's coins that we see posted here are either split right along the rim (so not where you are circling, but rather further out beyond the tops of the letters or else along the edge. This piece doesn't appear to have either of those characteristics though.

The two bottom face photos (showing the same side) appear to show a seam along the rim. Compare it to the first photo.

They are machined for one to fit into the other.

@john1 Ishould have clarified. I looked at a few other threads and saw the tooling and how they were worked. This one seemed as @spence pointed out not to have some of those characteristics... I was more curious about the manufacture vs identification...

Sorry

I'm thinking this is not a Magician's coin and just a fake coin through and through.

The detail in LIBERTY and the tiara on both sides looks weak and slightly misshapen, especially in the first photo.

It doesn't seem like the circled area could be the seam, because it passes under or through the letters. Unless someone mushed the letters over the seam after the two sides were combined.

also what appears to be a seam on the rim in image 1 from K6 to K9, is also present on the 'other' side of the coin in the same location - I don't see how there could be a seam on both sides.
So as Tanman stated, a fake double header.

Oh man I have not been to a double header in 40 years.
Agree this is likely a fake.

if you have another (older) silver dollar, you would be able to tell a difference in the ping the coin makes when dropped on a table. Even without a comparison coin, this one will have a duller ping than you'd expect, and one way to tell when coins have been modified like that.
