We need to use this same common sense approach when seeing an abnormal coin as well. ebay shyster auctions and online videos (clickbait to make money from youtube) about coins have misled a lot of people into thinking anything odd looking on a coin could be some valuable treasure. The overwhelming majority of odd looking coins are just damage or environmental changes made to them in circulation. How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?
