I found a 1926 with a MM CRH'ing. Not sure if it is a 1926 S or a 1926 D. It's worn for certain. However, there is a MM. I'm having difficulty determining if it is the S or D. The 1926 S is considered the rarest of all Wheat Cents. Hence my solicitation. https://www.pcgs.com/news/1926s-lin...n-1909-S-vdbThe obverse die is a ODV-010 (Flat foot to G of GOD) 1926 Denver Mint Mark - MMS-001 1926 SF Mint Mark - MMS-002 (small) Neither the 1926 S or 1926 D has a RPM listing. Any advice? Thanks for your feedback, NYI PS: I needed both the "S" and "D" for my DANSCO album, so either way it's a good day. "We are all flawed, some MD and some PMD." NYI

My tired old eyes see an "S".

Depends on one's definition of 'rarest'.
For me, the mint mark is too worn (plus circulation flattening and the hit) for me to discern. A '26 S in a little better condition can be had for $8-$12.

I'll say it's an "S". Why is this the rarest of the wheat cents?

Did you read PCGS article.........? It explains why the 1926 S is the rarest of all Lincoln Cents and does it far better than I can.

It may be the rarest of wheat cents, but certainly not in this grade!

Rarest. I must be fortunate, I have over three dozen '26 S cents in 2x2s--ranging from G to XF. My Danscos have another four in the AU range.

Quote: And there are few regular-issue Lincoln Cents that come anywhere close to the elusiveness of the 1926-S at the Gem level of MS65RD. This one is not quite MS65RD.

I didn't know you were rich ijn! very nice...
As for the Op's coin - I'm uncertain of the MM due to extreme wear and that circulation hit.

Now I know why the 1926 S is so hard to find... ijn has them all.

Can't tell if it's an S or D. Just too worn to tell. Still a nice find though.

Nice photos, NY.
I just checked my "from circulation" Whitman album, and I have the '26 but not the D or S. Rough as yours is, I'd still put it in my album and upgrade in the unlikely event that I were to ever get another.

Just to be clear for the newbies: rarest but in MS65red and above. NY Islander, Try taking a more in focus pic in black & white, maybe the mint mark will show better. I cannot tell if it is a S or D. John1
