Would this be an example of a die chip or some other error to the wheat ear on this 1953? Thoughts? Thanks.

Just some die chips, no error. Sometimes referred to as "bugs" in the wheat.

Die chips, yes. Would love to see full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. 1950s wheat cents can have many interesting issues.
