Been searching through more cents and I've found a 1992 P cent that looks remarkably like it may be a COS. The A and M are almost touching. There still is a very small space, however the spacing is equal to what I've seen on COS AM cents that have been passed off as being Wide. The space between the A and M is considerably smaller than the space between the M and E. There are also what looks like die breaks and doubling on the tops of the letters on "United".
I'm placing the coin in my pocket now, so I won't forget to take it home to photograph.
If you suspect it's a 1992-P Close AM, that's an "extremely rare" coin. Take good care of that until you can take pics. Another diagnostic for the Close AM reverse is the position of the designer initials "FG", as seen on this 1998-S Close AM proof.
My apologies to all. John1 pointed out, "what is meant by COS?" A good point. I meant CAM.
Pics coming this weekend. I am home and the coin is in hand. Regardless of what this coin may be, its an interesting coin for reasons beyond the CAM appearance. Lots of doubling effects on "UNITED". Also some other interesting things, although not as impressive as the latter.
To further explain why I posted "COS" rather than "CAM". I'm a network engineer. COS stands for "Class of Service", a router protocol that deals with networking. At the time I posted the original post, I was deeply involved with troubleshooting a COS problem on a companies network. It was a slip. To many acronyms with my line of work.
