I found this in a roll of wheaties I bought. Has anybody seen this before?

It appears the "contamination" is metallic and of similer composition to the base material. It's adhesion to the coin is very strong and has been there a while as it's protected the luster of this 1954-S. Any input is appreciated.

In 1947, the first consumer white glue was introduced and marketed by Borden® under the trade name "Cascorez Glue." It was packaged in glass bottles with "ice cream pop" type wooden sticks attached with a rubber band. Shortly thereafter, the glue was repositioned under the name "Elmer's Glue-All", after Elmer, the spouse of Borden's corporate symbol, Elsie the cow.

It could have been glued a decade or more after it was minted. But that is why this hobby is interesting.....we shall never know

Okay - I tried removing the "metal" and it will not come off. It appears to be welded the base material and not glued. In fact it looks like bronze/brass itself.

A strange cent to be sure.

Maybe some sort of a 2 part metal bonding substance on the same lines of "JB Weld" maybe?

I found a wheat with a piece of what looked to be chewing gum on it. I removed the gum and it looked almost identical to that coin.

Whatever it is, it was stuck to the coin post-mint. That's not an error.
