Hello everyone,

I am in the u.s. for two weeks and heading back to Rome on Thursday. I went through some coins that are here - none of these are mine but ended up in a box in the house accumulated over many years - this Morgan looks to have an outline in patina of Nebraska? Iowa? Or is this like seeing Elvis on toast or a Chevy in a cloud? A complete fabrication of my mind?

Tell me, please, if I am crazy. I fully understand that the coin is low grade, bullion (I sold a lot of Morgan and peace this trip) so I am not under any impression this coin has value beyond x.

Looks like it had a piece of tape on the obverse at some point.

Agreed. It looks like a piece of tape was applied to the obverse of this coin for some time.

I've dealt with old tape (still) attached to a Morgan. Was really old tape and didn't have a uniformly crisp outline.

oh yeah, the ole tape residue as mentioned above - maybe a soak in acetone might help remove it. (if it is still there, but the odd toning may be permanent
