I'm not seeing anything that would indicate a DDR.

Most of what you are seeing is from Die Deterioration, underlying plating issues and maybe some of the trails showing through from the trails from the master die on AMERICA. You see the "lines" in the centers of the letters on many of the zincolns, that give it the look of possible doubling, I think this is from plating disturbances under the copper. Master trail die listings. https://www.traildies.com/master-dies-with-trails/

Quote: I see no sign of a trail die on that coin. John1 Unless there was more than one master die for 1985, it's on all 85's, P, D and S. The die stage, quality of strike and condition of the coin will make this trail vary though. You can see it best between the A and M on Bent's example though. It's the first listing in the link I provided. Below is Bent's example and the example from traildies.com for comparison.

I thought the dots looked stretched out and there are some small notching at the bottom of the letters. Thanks Bent

Bent, start paying attention to the upper west dot, the one between E and P. You will find it's normal design is oblong, the other two are fairly round looking. As for the rest, it's deterioration and plating disturbance.

Makecents Thanks for the info and the site. I will study it! Maybe next time I will get it right! I want to thank everyone for their help. Bent.
