Recently got this Mark Twain $5 proof for 6.09% over spot on APMEX, .2419 gold, mintage 13,273. It was about $202 cheaper than the 2024 $5 gold on US Mint. In my opinion APMEX can have higher prices but their sale items can be reasonably priced. I remember when young enjoying reading Mark Twain's novels plus watching a few movies made from them.

I use NGC coins melt value chart or online scrap gold calculator to figure what I pay over melt.

Very nice! I like this one!

I bought a Mark Twain silver proof dollar for my brother last year. I did not photograph it, but it was this one:

We both enjoy Mark Twain.

Congrats on the purchase!

Are you working on a gold set of modern US commemorative coins?

Thanks all.

Commems, I don't plan on collecting a set of $5 commemorative gold, I only have a few of them. Some of the designs/themes I don't care for.

igwt79, I have the silver version too. I like it.

Beautiful coin for a good price! I really like the Twain coins, they're some of my favorite modern commemoratives. The silver dollar is in my 7070.

Great addition to your collection. I also have one in my collection, it's one of the better designs in my opinion.
