I'd ask the moderator to please keep this post here, mostly
ASE content, I may do a review of the Phone scope in the proper category.
I went to the World's Fair of Money in Chicago yesterday.
I kept a pretty open mind about what to expect. It wasn't a lot different than other city shows I've been to, except 10X bigger. The US Mint was there, I could have picked up an S proof
ASE, but I have one on subscription. I could see that the potential was there to pick up something special under different circumstances, but nothing all that special was being released this year.
I only had a short list of things to watch for, a could bullion ASEs for my set that I'd like to improve, and a couple low mintage implied mint mark bullions. I don't get into the graded ASEs really, but thought it might be ok to get a couple of these, the 15(P), which can be expensive, and the 2020(P).
One thing I didn't shot in the first picture is I picked up another of the Lighthouse silver eagle display boxes. 40% off! So I got the display box and inner tray for less than the box would normally sell for by itself.
I also decide to pick up the 10X magnifier for smart phone called Phonescope.
I like it. If you check the pictures, you see that the camera focuses on on problem areas very well. I wish there was a way it could do just magnify the entire coin. The cup that surrounds the coin is too small for a dollar sized coin, so it ends up on top of the coin, instead of surrounding it.
But you can see how sharp the focused area is.
So I'm going to recommend to Lighthouse to make a model with a larger cup and a little less magnification.
I picked up an LED lighted 5X magnifier as well at a different booth.
I did find a nicer 1997 bullion, with the Phonescope I took a few pictures of the problems with the old one, the one I replaced.
